Campground Life with Kids

Campground life with kids is a completely different style than that of singles and retired groups. The desires and goals are different for each group so it’s always good to know what to look for at each stop. Until recently we picked sites based on proximity to bath houses, camp stores, lakes, etc…… but now our views have changed!!

PICKING THE SITE

Recently we discovered that many families with kids, especially full time families, tend to congregate together and in many campgrounds that location doesn’t change. Finding these areas is great so you don’t end up in our latest situation where we were completely across the campground!

Many of these campgrounds are going to have playgrounds and ball courts and that’s obviously something to look for but what about the larger parks? We are Thousand Trails members and many of the campgrounds are sectioned by letter areas and/or loops. In these type campgrounds it seems to be quite common to find the kids in the “B” loop.

Knowing this helps in your planning because you know the kids are going to want to hang out and play all day! It also helps for the adults to meet, interact and socialize developing a sense of community. These things all lead to a better overall experience for your camping trip.

We hope these few tips help make your camping more enjoyable and less stressful in the future. Happy camping and never stop roaming. Until next time….
