Ringing in the New Year on Alabama’s Gulf Coast

Those who know and follow us know that we are always looking for new adventures and things to do. Winter sometimes makes this a bit more of a challenge due to weather in much of the country but we still manage to roam! This holiday season we were blessed with some above average temperatures and were able to take part in ringing in the new year on Alabama’s Gulf Coast!

THE WHARF AT ORANGE BEACH

The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama was the perfect center for fun to ring in 2022! Lined with shops, water, lighted palm trees, kids activities and live music there was sure to be something for everyone.

We arrived early since we had never been to the area before. This gave us time to roam and take in the layout before the crowds arrived. We enjoyed roaming the shops, grabbing ice cream from Kilwin’s, and the kids even got to ride a camel!! During this time we also enjoyed spending time in a local shop called Shades. This is a location with a variety of items for sale but the main attraction is the dogs running throughout the store! They have the run of the place and even have their pictures on many of the shirts. They are so animal friendly they even have a sign out front that reads “Dogs welcome, People tolerated, Kids on a Leash.” This place is definitely a must visit!

As midnight drew near the crowds piled in and the music drew singing and dance offs in the street! We took our spot close to the stage where we could watch the Marlin drop and have the perfect vantage point for the fireworks show as we bid good riddance to 2021 and welcomed 2022! Check out the entire video of the fireworks show HERE!!

This was just one of our many adventures on our trip to the coast so be sure to stay tuned for many other posts including the Polar Bear Dip and our newly found style of camping! Until next time…..
